Hey,
Has anyone read the series of books His Dark Materials (by Philip Pullman, consisting of 'The Golden Compass (northern lights),' 'The Subtle Knife,', and 'The Amber Spyglass')? I think they're great, and in some ways a lot bettr than another popular fantasy series *coughcoughharrypottercoughcough*... I have them on audio casette (well the first and the last anyway, the last I listened to from NLS) and they have voice actors act out all the parts, and Pullman himself does the narration. It's great.

It's funny that I found this. Today I just finished The Golden Compass, and wanted to start a topic about it on here, but I somehow thought I'd seen one before, and here it was, still in recent topics. I'm wondering if i did see it before or not. Oh well. Anyway yeah. The books rock. I loved the first one and can't wait to read the next two! The author really has one of the best gifts with words I've ever seen; colorful but easy to comprehend. And it's one of those books where you love the characters instantly. It rocks. I recommend it to people of all ages, and I don't generally like sci-fi, but this one was gooooood!

Hello, well I did listen to the northern lights and a bit of the suttle knife. I didn't finnish the book though because I got quite involved in it though I stil think it's a good book. I might finnish the book someday. Phillip Pullman really has a good voice. I like his ideas very interesting. Wonder where did he get all his ideas from. bfn

Love those books. I read them all last year and recently downloaded them off of web braille to rereacd them. They're amazing. They transport you to new places. I spent weeks after the Golden Compass wishing I had a daemon, and I burst into tears at the end of The Amber Spyglass. A I've also read Harry Potter and I love how P Pullman is so much darker and makes you think so much more.

Lol I want a daemon! I employed one of my friends to be my daemon, but then he said that, as I'm smaller, I shoudl be his daemon, and then we started arguing about it. Lol it was funny. But I want a daemon. Last night I bought all three books-on-CD's of the series, even though I have yet to read books 2 and 3, my friend (my daemon) told me they're good, so I jsut bought them. Sounds crazy, and it was a lot of money, bu I love them, and they were all there on the shelf just waiting to be bought, all at one time, no hunting from store to store, so I bought them. Lol. Can't wait to read books 2 and 3!!!
